Before dawn, thousands of women set out for work. Intimate portraits of their daily lives.
Every morning before dawn, thousands of women working in Dakar's informal economy set out for work. LES COURAGEUSES closely follows several of them: a fruit seller, a tuna-sandwich vendor, a fish seller with her baby, a young woman selling bags of water and a banana seller braving the traffic.
Through their candid accounts and the gestures they repeat every day, the film reveals an unseen reality: women who, without social protection or recognition, carry an essential part of Senegal's economy. A tribute to Dakar's everyday heroines.
Style: handheld camera, natural light and complete immersion, with no staging.
